Hasil Adkins at the Continental Club May 11, 2002
It's pronounced "hassle." Hasil rolled onto the stage to the packed smelly
crowd on a night too hot. The waiting made people stink more. In typical Austin
fasion, even after demanding Hasil and yelling impatiently, they were not
deterred from turning their backs to the performer to carry on their personal
inane and drunken banter. Not that there were not some who never took their
eyes off the sixty something man lurking behind the drumset, whacking cymbals
with one hand, ripping the guitar with the other. A couple rockers, a couple
blues tunes, a beer bottle flies across the stage, Johnny B. Goode, and the
guitar gets thrown to the floor and it was over.
