More books. Even some fiction.

I can read.

V. S. Naipul's The Loss of El Dorado
Tragic, brutal history of Trinidad with a novelist's pacing. Brilliantly researched. V. S. can write a sentence.

Terry Pratchett The Reaper Man
Silly parodic goofiness that was highly recommended by my wife and a friend. Very entertaining, where the "message" doesn't overwhelm the fluffiness. Your enjoyment may be a function of your pun tolerance.

Alma Guillermoprieto Looking for History
A collection of articles on Latin American politics, mostly in the 90s. Brisk, concise writing with Guillermoprieto's sharp eye for character and detail. Unfortunately, as is the necessary case with journalism, it can feel like yesterdays paper at time, leaving me with the question "Then what happened?" too often.

On deck? After reading Looking for History, I bought a copy of Mario Vargas Llosa's autobiography Like a Fish in Water, but have made only minimal progress, getting distracted by copies of "Sport Car Market."
