Christian file
sharing
The NYT on
Christian file sharing. Curious
thing, this file swapping. Y'know, Jesus wasn't all about the benjamins.
From the
articleDeep down, I may have felt that
there was a difference with Christian music, like, 'These guys are trying to
spread a good message here, maybe I should help them,' " he said. "But mainly,
music is music." Then last year his
Bible study group held a scriptural discussion of illegal downloading, with
heated arguments on both sides, especially over sharing expensive software. He
decided that file-sharing clashed with the principles of being a "Godly man."
But he said that Christian
performers might face a unique backlash if they came out against file-sharing.
"When you claim to be a Christian
you're held to a higher standard, so if you say you need to have money, people
will look down on that," he said. "It wouldn't bother me as much from a secular
artist, who you expect to live in big mansions in California."
