In the meantime...

Mas alfa again.

So I got a bonus at the end of the year from my generous employer. Hmmm... Should I scour the Internet for my dream bike? (Currently a 1972 Norton Commando) Or, with more practicality, should I do something with my Alfa which has been idle in the garage? I opted for Alfa. Last activity was basically replacing all the fuel lines and boiling out the gas tank. It seems to have reliable fuel pressure now, however as soon as I began diagnosing the issues the clutch stuck shut. I pushed the clutch pedal down and it didn't seem too eager to come back up. With the added clue of a puddle of hydraulic fluid under the car, I figured it was the slave cylinder. Funny thing was that as much as I pumped the clutch pedal, the clutch master cylinder didn't spew out the rest of the fluid. The MC seemed relatively new and in good shape compared to the slave, so I ordered up a new slave and connecting hose. While dismantling the old hose & slave, I figured what had happened. The hose had disintegrated, stopping itself up and shoveling bits of rubber into the slave. I also noticed that the slave no longer had any tension on the clutch. I'm hoping that it just needs to be popped, as described here.
In the meantime, I've been reading about the Datsun/Alfa battles in the TransAm races.
