The Wrong Pump

How I figured it out.

How did I figure out that my fuel pump issue was because a later model tank had been retrofitted with a malfunctioning pre-pump?
I asked on the internet. And a guy who knows all about Spica injection systems not only clued me into what the deal was, but sent me a document he'd been compiling on diagnosing Spica fuel injection systems.

I pulled the part out, hosed it down with carb cleaner, filed down the connections, and shore nuff, the thing provided reliable pressure. Until it soaked up enough crud from the bottom of the tank to clog the filter.

Snagged a new one from e-bay, though. Part no. 87.

More work, no doubt, but focused.
