A Visit to Mr. Cool 


Like Mr. Freeze only not so. 

I spent part of Friday night wrestling the gas tank out of my Alfa, draining the red chalky sludge out. It was a mess - I could see that the sock I had put over the fuel intake had already clogged with assorted oxidized nastiness.
The only solution was to get it boiled out. The folks at Performance Radiator recommended Mr. Cool. So I slung the tank in the back of a Subaru, and headed over there early Saturday morning, where I found Mr. Cool in his lair. He check out the tank, lit Marlboro dangling from lips, and said, yeah, it was pretty rusty. Next Friday, probably about $75.
Of course, now I know that I'll probably have the Mini by next Friday, so it is no longer an issue. Nonetheless, I think having a running Alfa will be a good thing.
