Casting Couch & Orange Mothers, The Carousel Lounge, December 10, 2005

Cry havoc and let slip the CDs

In a packed house in an jarringly smoke free Carousel, Casting Couch rocked the joint. It had been a while since I heard them all plugged in and wailing, but it was worth it. Spacejam intro to "Baby Doll" segueing into "St Lucy" kicked off the set, which rambled into great performances of "Replaced" and "Strawberry."
Then the Orange Mothers did a 20 year spanning greatest hits show, finishing up with a rainbow coalition of fans jiving on the dancefloor propelled by Jeff Johnston's magic bass technique. So how did the Mothers get a fan base of baby-faced youngsters, flower peddlers and Ken Lieck?

Julie posted some of the pics I snapped at the show at Casting Couch log . I tweaked 'em a little, but I think I may go back to my old point and shoot film camera. None of the immediacy, but my little Canon demands everyone to stand still in perfect lighting to get a decent photo.

It would have been a great show to bootleg, ceptin' my minidisc, after many long years of abuse, appears to have taken a minishit. The loyal Sharp MDMT 821 responds to my request for service with a simple statement: POWER? If only I knew the answer.
